WELCOME TO THE JUNIORFIRST ® LEGO ® LEAGUE WORLD FESTIVAL EXPO

Junior FIRST ® LEGO ® League (Jr.FLL ® ) captures young children’s  curiousity and directs it toward discovering the wonders of a real-world scientific concept to be explored through research, teamwork, construction, and imagination. Guided by adult Coaches, teams design and contruct a model using LEGO ® elements and motorized parts, and develop a Show Meposter to illustrate their journey.

WHAT IS JR.FLL?

Each year, FIRST LEGO League Jr. presents a new and exciting Challenge to ignite the creativity of young children. While exploring the real-world theme, teams will learn about simple machines as they build a model made of LEGO®elements with a motorized part. They will also learn to present information through a Show Me Poster. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under a signature set of Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®.

Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) is a non-competitive, hands-on program geared toward children ages 6 to 9. Teams of up to six children and two adult Coaches receive the Jr.FLL Challenge, which introduces Jr.FLL children to the core concepts of all FIRST programs: to inspire, excite, and introduce the wonders of science, technology, and engineering. Jr.FLL features a real-world scientific topic, to be explored through research, teamwork, and imagination.

Teams then create a working model of what they learned using LEGO® kits, and a Show Me poster that highlights what the team has learned through their research. The program focuses on allowing children to learn, collaborate, and have fun.

FIRST LEGO League Jr. teams are about to learn that throwing something in the trash is only the beginning. In the 2015-2016 WASTE WISESM Challenge, over 34,500 children ages 6 to 9 from 18 countries will look at trash in a whole new way. From reducing, to reusing, to recycling, and beyond, find out what making trash really means. Prepare to become Waste Wise!

WASTE WISE Challenge is available to registered teams through the FIRST LEGO League Jr. Showcase.
